Give the Gift of Better Farming Conditions with the Help of World Trader Coffee’s Fair Trade Certified Coffees

World Trader Coffee is thinking about the small farmers that produce our coffees this Christmas selling Fair Trade Certified coffee. These are types of coffee that help to improve farming conditions that have plagued small coffee farms. A sharp drop in coffee prices have made it difficult, or impossible, for many farmers to support their farms and their families. When a coffee is bought at a reasonable price from farms that are working to increase technologies and praise their farmers, it is awarded Fair Trade Certification.

Easily one of our most popular Fair Trade Certified coffees is the Toraja Sulawesi, or “White Eagle” coffee. The White Eagle is a world class coffee from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, grown by the oldest and original Toraja trees which can only be found in remote Ethiopia. The original trees date back more than 250 years are from such a remote area that it takes four days on horseback to bring the coffee down from the mountain. Though the beans are relatively small, they have a unique flavor not found in any other Toraja coffee. Due to this, “White Eagle” coffee is kept separate from all other coffees as the king of Toraja Arabicas. This coffee is so rare that only 300 to 600 bags are produced each crop year.

In Papua New Guinea, a Fair Trade Coffee is grown known for its balanced flavor, chocolate overtones and slightly dry finish. This coffee is famous for being sweet and full bodied which comes as no surprise as it originated with the introduction of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee seedlings back in 1927. Most coffee in Papua New Guinea is grown organically in small co-ops of farmers that share the coffee processing facilities. Help these farmers by enjoying this well-balanced coffee with its earthy body, sweet acidity and complex fruity aroma.

In El Salvador, and more precisely from the Santa Barbara Estate, a coffee is grown with an intense aroma and smooth, yet very complex flavor. The Santa Teresa coffee is a full bodied coffee cultivated from more traditional varietals and is shade grown and organically farmed. Most notably, this coffee is remarkable for its smoothness and full and rich flavor.
