Help World Trader Coffee Help the Environment with RainForest Alliance Coffee

World Trader Coffee is proud to help the environment by selling RainForest Alliance Coffees. These coffees are given the RainForest Alliance certificate when they have been proven to protect the environment and the rights of workers. The basic guidelines are known as the Sustainable Agriculture Standard with additional specific rules that apply to the coffee’s producers. Only when a coffee is shown to be grown with the highest effort to preserve the habitat in which they are grown and end child labor do they earn the RainForest Alliance Coffee seal.

One of the top coffees in this section is the Colonial Caranavi coffee from Bolivia. This coffee derives its name from the small farmers known as colonials. This Bolivian coffee is grown in the Yungas region in the state of La Paz on the majestic Eastern ridge of the Andes mountain range. While there are a total of 41 small organic coffee farms that produce this rare and delicious coffee, all farming is done according to methods laid out to optimize quality without the use of chemical fertilizers. This produces a coffee with a heavy body and a pleasantly spicy taste with mild acidity.

We travel north from here to Nicaragua where a medium bodied coffee full of flavor and distinctly less acidic is produced in the land of lakes and volcanoes. The rich and fertile soil here produces a cup of coffee with a great body, clean flavor and great balance. Even among other Central American coffees it is unique due to it being one of the highest grown in the region which causes the low acidity that other Central American coffees are known for.

Traveling back south we find ourselves in Costa Rica where Tarrazu coffee is grown. Famous for its rich body, acidity and spicy overtones, Costa Rica Tarrazu is a complex and complete coffee experience. Easily one of the finest coffees grown in the Tarrazu region in the Don Roberto coffee plantation high in this mountainous region, this coffee boasts its unique flavor due to the microclimate that the Tarrazu region is known for. The region produces the ideal climate for growing coffee with a combination of volcanic soil, temperature, sunlight and moisture. The use of herbicides and pesticides are eliminated through the manual removal of weeds and the use of natural processes.
