NBA Scores: Tim Duncan Lifts San Antonio Spurs Past Golden State

Tim Duncan scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while Manu Ginobili added 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lift the San Antonio Spurs (55-21) over the Golden State Warriors (37-40) 112-99.

Michael Finley scored 11 points in the opening quarter and Duncan added nine as the Spurs headed into the second quarter with a 40-31 lead.

Golden State opened the second quarter with the first seven points and cut their deficit to two but San Antonio went on a 12-4 run to push their lead back to 52-42 with 4:54 remaining in the half. The Warriors climbed back and when Jason Richardson hit a three-pointer with 1:13 on the clock the game was tied at 54-54. Ginobili then answered with a three of his own and San Antonio carried a three-point advantage into the break.

The Warriors grabbed a 63-61 lead early in the third quarter but the Spurs answered once again. A 13-2 run put San Antonio up 74-65 and they never trailed again.

Richardson was able to pull the Warriors to within 96-91 with 4:54 on the clock in the fourth but a 10-2 spurt from the Spurs ended any Golden State hopes.

Golden State now sits 1 ½ games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth spot in the Western Conference playoff hunt.
