One day after the Washington Redskins hired Bruce Allen as general manager the team reportedly began speaking with former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, possibly setting up a deal that would bring the two-time Super Bowl winner back to the sideline.
On Thursday Allen announced that Jim Zorn remained the Redskins coach but it is well known that owner Dan Snyder has a strong relationship with Shanahan and he has felt growing pressure from fans to make a move quickly.
Snyder did indicate that Allen would have most of the control when it came to decisions saying, “when he makes a decision, the club makes a decision, it's a Redskins decision. ... I've not been as involved as people may have thought. In terms of the future, obviously we're going to be counting on Bruce to help lead the way.”
