Shanti Andrews and Rebecca Turner were initially convicted of falsely claiming someone stole their luggage and cash while they were in transit between Foz de Iguazu and Rio de Janeiro. The allegedly stolen items were located inside the room they were staying and the pair was charged with attempted insurance fraud and falsely reporting a crime.
The lawyer for the women argued authorities did not have a warrant to search the pair's hotel room.
