NFL Scores: Philadelphia Eagles Lock Up Playoff Berth with Win Over San Francisco 49ers

Donovan McNabb threw for 306 yards and a touchdown and ran for another, DeSean Jackson had 140 yards receiving and a TD on six catches and the Philadelphia Eagles (10-4) defense forced four turnovers in a 27-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers (6-8) on Sunday. With the win the Eagles locked up a spot in the NFC playoffs and still hold a one-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.

Philadelphia jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when McNabb and Jackson hooked up on a 19-yard touchdown pass but the 49ers managed to cut into that lead with a 51-yard field goal from Joe Nedney to pull to within 7-3.

The Eagles then boosted their lead to 14-3 early in the second quarter when McNabb scored on an 8-yad keeper and that was followed by a pair of field goals from David Akers that gave Philly a 20-3 lead at halftime.

San Francisco came back in the third quarter though as Nedney connected on a 25-yard field goal and Alex Smith found Josh Morgan on a 12-yard touchdown pass and when the game went into the fourth quarter the 49ers were trailing 20-13.

Philadelphia got some breathing room early in the final frame when LeSean McCoy scored on a 2-yard run and the 49ers offense had no more answers.

The 49ers were awful on third down as they finished the day 0-11 on conversion attempts.
