Merck (NYSE: MRK), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) Among Most Active Healthcare Monday

Merck (NYSE: MRK) stock rose 20 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $37.60 in afternoon trading on a volume of 10.67 million shares. The stock hit a 52-week high of $38.42 and has traded between $31.25 and $38.42 over the past 52 weeks. The company announced that it will acquire Avecia Solutions.

 

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) stock fell 1 cent, or 0.02 percent, to $64.36 in afternoon trading on a volume of 7.68 million shares. The stock has traded between $46.25 and $65.41 over the past 52 weeks. J&J lost a lawsuit to China’s ST Flora, a cosmetic maker, who won the right to use the trademark Caile to market shampoo, hair conditioner, facial cleanser, and toothpaste.

Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) was also among the Most Active stocks, rose 35 cents, or 1.9 percent, to $18.65 on a volume of 28.75 million shares. The stock has traded between $11.62 and $18.99 over the past 52 weeks. Pfizer announced Monday that the company sold its Vicuron Pharmaceuticals unit to Durata Therapeutics.
