Shawn Marion scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Amare Stoudemire added 18 points and pulled down 11 boards and Leandro Barbosa came off the bench to score 20 as the Phoenix Suns (59-19) beat the Seattle Supersonics (31-48) 109-91 to keep their two game cushion over the San Antonio Spurs for the number two spot in the Western Conference playoff picture.
Phoenix had six players score in double figures and shot 49 percent from the field to win their third straight.
Rashard Lewis scored eleven in the opening period to give the Sonics a 33-31 lead after one but that lead was short lived as Barbosa opened the second quarter with a three-pointer and followed that with a jumper. Shawn Marion then hit a pair of free-throws and the Suns were up five.
Seattle used a 13-3 run to take a brief two point advantage only to watch as the Suns closed the half on an 18-10 run and went to the locker room with a 64-58 lead.
By the fourth quarter the Sonics had nothing left to counter the balanced attack displayed by the Suns. Phoenix starts a four game in five nights schedule on Friday when they host the Lakers, they then travel to take on the Jazz and the Rockets before finishing up at home against the Clippers.
