Red Hat (NYSE:RHT) has released the third quarter earnings for fiscal 2010. The company reported its total revenue for the quarter as $194.3 million, 18% higher than the year ago period. It’s subscription revenue was $164.4 million, 21% higher than the year over year.

Red Hat’s GAAP operating income for the quarter was $19.8 million, which included a previously announced charge of $8.8 million for a litigation settlement. The comparable period of the previous year reported a GAAP operating income of $21.0 million.
