George Michael, know widely for his syndicated “The George Michael Sports Machine,” has died from complications related to chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Michael was 70.
Michael spent 28 years at Washington’s WRC-TV and was highly regarded by not only the sports teams in the D.C. area but by the community as well.
His love for sports broadcasting led him to launch what would be known as “The George Michael Sports Machine,” a highlight-rich show that covered a full-range of sports. The popularity of the show grew and at its peak was syndicated to more than 200 stations.
Michael won a Sports Emmy in 1985 for his work on the show.
