NBA Scores: Jason Kidd Tallies Triple-Double as Nets Eliminate Knicks from Playoff Picture

Jason Kidd scored 13 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 11 assists while Vince Carter added 25 points, 6 boards and 7 assists as the New Jersey Nets (38-41) beat the New York Knicks (32-47) 100-86 and move within ½ a game of locking up an Eastern Conference playoff birth.

For the Knicks, the loss officially eliminated them from post season play.

New York played strong in the first half and carried a 47-44 advantage into the break but the Nets took control in the third period with a 14-4 burst to jump to a 65-56 lead. Vince Carter scored 15 points in the deciding period as the Nets put up 40 in the quarter compared to 19 by the Knicks. Kidd added 12 and Richard Jefferson scored 8 as the Nets hit 6 three-pointers in the frame.

With an 84-68 lead heading into the fourth the Nets continued to pour it on and pushed their advantage to 23 points before pulling up the reigns.

New Jersey hit 16 three-pointers in the game and now need just one win or an Indiana Pacers loss to clinch a spot in the playoffs.
