Dwyane Wade scored 14 of his team-high 23 points in the fourth quarter and James Posey hit a huge three-pointer late in the game to give the Miami Heat (44-36) a 100-96 victory over the fading Indiana Pacers (35-44).
Indiana held a 94-90 lead with 1:55 remaining in the game but Wade cut the Heat deficit to two and then Posey followed with a triple with 1:29 left on the clock to give Miami a one point lead. Wade’s dunk with 43 seconds left in the game pushed the advantage to three but Danny Granger brought the Pacers to within one on a driving layup with 39 ticks left. Udonis Haslem countered with a layup of his own and Miami moved up by three once again and Indy could move no closer.
Shaquille O’Neal finished 10-12 from the field for 21 pints and grabbed 8 rebounds in the Miami victory. James Posey scored 18 points in the contest and hit all five of his three-point attempts.
The loss drops the Pacers 1 ½ games behind the Orlando Magic for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. Indiana finishes up with home games against the New Jersey Nets and Washington Wizards while a road game against the Atlanta Hawks is sandwiched between the two.
