Bridge Collapse in Western India Kills at least 40

At least 40 people are believed dead and several more remain missing after a bridge being built in western India collapsed.

Officials have said only 12 bodies have been found but there had been dozens of laborers working on the bridge, which was to stretch across the river Chambal, when it collapsed. Rescuers have said there was little hope in finding any survivors.

An investigation into the bridge collapse is now underway and police have already detained two project managers. The bridge was a joint-project between South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Gammon India.
