Suicide Bomber Kills at least 25, Dozens Injured during Shia Muslim March in Pakistan

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive while walking in a procession with Shia Muslim in Karachi, Pakistan, killing at least 25 people and injuring dozens more.

The attack came as Shia Muslims were marking the end of the holy month of Muharram which commemorates the death of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson. According to reports there were tens of thousands of people marching when the bomber struck.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack but sectarian violence between Shias and Sunnis is common in Karachi. Despite the history of violence between Shias and Sunnis many suspect Taliban militants who have carried out several attacks in the area.
