NBA News: Chicago Bulls to Fire Head Coach Vinny Del Negro

The Chicago Bulls are expected to fire head coach Vinny Del Negro as soon as the team’s front office makes a decision on who will replace him.

Much was expected of the Bulls this season after they took the Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round of last year’s Eastern Conference playoffs but an 11-17 record thus far has been a major disappointment and Del Negro has taken much of the blame.

Chicago is said to be looking for a permanent replacement but if they are unable to settle on a decision soon they promote an assistant coach to interim status.

The Bulls will have a deep candidate pool from which to choose as several big name coaches are without a job, among them Byron Scott, Avery Johnson and Jeff Van Gundy.
