Daniel Alaei, the famous poker player from Santa Fe Springs, California has come out as the last World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic winner of the year 2009. He is primarily a no-limit cash player. Along with the famous bracelet he managed $1,428,430 as the prize money. Alaei announced his presence in 2006 when he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet with a Lowball no-limit 2-7 draw event. In 2007 World Series of Poker main event, he managed the 25th position and managed $333,490.
2009 was especially good for Daniel Alaei as he reached at the final stages for two final tables in WSP and finally won in one. In the process he defeated 329 players. This year he won over $2 million from all the tournaments. In the final of WSOP 2009 he defeated Scotty Nguyen who was the winner of WSOP 1998 and Nguyen finally ended grabbing the fifth position. It was rather unexpected as he started quite well in the second place when the final table began. It was quite disappointing for the The Master Men Nguyen and he openly admitted it to the media.
The first player to be eliminated from the final table was Steve O'Dwyner who left the table after after 47 hands. Scotty Nguyen’s two Jacks were more powerful than the A6 of Steve. After this it was rather impossible to reverse the KK of Faraz Jaka with the 99.
Josh Arieh and Daniel Alaei faced each other in the final head's up match. Josh had 12.99 million tokens and Daniel had 6.78 million.. But still Josh Arieh could not utilize the advantageous position and was released after 31 hands. The game lasted for slightly over one hour and Arieh managed $952,290 and had to be satisfied with the second position.
