One of the Best Philadelphia Periodontists, Dr. David DiGiallorenzo Fights CID With Laser

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The advent of laser periodontal treatment has proven to be useful in painlessly treating a variety of oral problems, including chronic inflammatory disease.

One of the Best
Philadelphia Periodontists Dr. David DiGiallorenzo began using laser periodontal treatment in his office earlier this year.  The  laser helps ensure oral problems are treated early enough, which can prevent tooth loss.  The laser also prevents more serious problems associated with bacterial infections, such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart attack, diabetes and pre-term, low birthweight babies.

“Chronic inflammatory disease can be deadly,” said DiGiallorenzo, a
Philadelphia dental implants specialist. “It can do more than cause you to lose your teeth. It can lead to much more serious illnesses.  Your oral health is a window into your overall health.”

Studies have found correlations between periodontal disease and heart attack, stroke, diabetes and serious respiratory conditions, according to a joint paper recently presented in collaboration with the American Academy of Cardiology and  the American Academy of Periodontology.  This consensus report was distributed to 30,000 cardiologists.

DiGiallorenzo is one of the only Philadelphia periodontists who uses the PerioLase laser-assisted new attachment procedure- called LANAP- to treat patients suffering from chronic inflammatory disease.

“It is designed to zap away infection and stimulate new support in one visit,” he said. “It is painless and involves no cutting or suturing, so there is no need for patients to fear the treatment.”

Approximately 100 million Americans have periodontal disease and experience symptoms that include, shifting, loose or sore teeth, bleeding gums or bad breath. Typically, just 3 percent of those people seek treatment.

“This is a serious health epidemic because patients have been under-treated,” DiGiallorenzo said. “This is why there is such a prevalence of gum disease.”

Since DiGiallorenzo, Philadelphia
Periodontist, began spreading the word among his patients about the pain-free LANAP procedure, more patients have been willing to get their chronic inflammatory disease treated, he said.

“It’s an educational process to remove patient fear,” he said. “We’re doing that and having some success in getting people to address this very important issue.”
