Virginia Tech Shooting Kills at least 22

A message on the Virginia Tech web site has confirmed that 22 people have been confirmed dead after a shooting occurred on the campus earlier Monday.

All classes have been cancelled at the university for an indefinite period.

The gunman initially began firing shoots in the West Ambler Johnston co-ed dormitory shortly after 7:00 am and then crossed the campus and entered Norris Hall, an engineering building, and shot and killed several more victims.

Initial numbers have listed 28 wounded in the shooting.

Police have indicated that the gunman was among the dead but have not releases the cause of death.

Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said, “Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions.”
