The San Francisco Giants added some power to the middle of their lineup, signing infielder Mark DeRosa to a two-year deal that should take some pressure of third baseman Pablo Sandoval.
According to reports the deal was worth $12 million over two seasons and an official announcement from the team expected to be delivered on Tuesday.
DeRosa spent the majority of last year with the Cleveland Indians before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. A wrist injury sidelined for several games but he did lead the club in hitting in their disappointing playoff series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With DeRosa on the club the Giants could move Sandoval to first and put DeRosa at third, something manager Bruce Bochy has already entertained.
