Pakistani Authorities Seeking Life Sentence for 5 Americans Arrested on Terrorism Charges

The five American men arrested in Pakistan earlier this month could be facing terrorism charges and a life sentence if a court agrees to the request made by authorities.

According to authorities in the eastern Pakistani city of Sargodha all five men intended on joining militant groups and carrying out attacks in the country. The Muslim men had travelled to Pakistan from Washington D.C. but were arrested in Sargodha.

Police have not yet concluded their investigation but have expressed near certainty that all five men intended on launching attacks within Pakistan. The men are expected to appear in an anti-terrorism court on Jan. 4 where a judge will determine their charges.
