Shareholders of Marvel Entertainment (NYSE: MVL) approved the company's acquisition by Disney (NYSE: DIS) on Thursday.
The shareholders voted at a special meeting Thursday morning. The comic-book company, which created X-Men and Spider-Man, says the $4.3 billion acquisition will close at the end of the day.

Under the deal, The Walt Disney Co. now receives Marvel Entertainment Inc.'s roster of more than 5,000 characters, which includes the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and Iron-Man, amongst others. While most of the characters are not well-known, several of them have been made into blockbuster movies in this decade.
