It’s finally over; Sanjaya Malakar’s experience on ‘American Idol’ has come to a close after voters had enough of the vocally challenged 17-year-old and sent him packing on Wednesday night.
Malakar butchered the Bonnie Raitt hit “Something to Talk About” to earn hi spot in the bottom two and he was joined by LaKisha Jones whose rendition of “Jesus Take the Wheel” failed to impress not only the judges but the audience as well.
Despite clearly being the better singer of the two, Jones had to be nervous after watching Sanjaya survive week after week of sub-par performances. In the end it was Malakar’s name called by Ryan Seacrest and the Washington native was eliminated.
After dropping a few tears the most talked about ‘Idol’ sang the Raitt song as a farewell and faded off into pop culture lore. Of course this isn’t the end of Sanjaya. He’ll be back for the ‘American Idol’ tour and be a part of the ‘American Idol’ album and no doubt will have a record deal in the near future after turning this season into his personal playground.
