LeBron James scored 24 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and handed out 9 assists while Sasha Pavlovic tallied 21 points and Anderson Varejao pulled down 12 boards to lift the Cleveland Cavaliers (50-32) past the Milwaukee Bucks (28-54) 109-96 and earn the number two seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Cavaliers win coupled with the Chicago Bulls loss to the New Jersey Nets now sets the stage for Cleveland to face the Washington Wizards in the first round.
Cleveland had little trouble in disposing the battered Bucks who appeared ready to end their horrific season. The Cavs led by as many as 16 in the first quarter as Pavlovic went for 13 in the opening frame. Milwaukee took a brief lead in the closing minutes of the second quarter but James scored six of the final eight points for the Cavaliers who took a three point advantage into the break.
The third quarter started with a 10-2 run by the Cavs and the Bucks could never dig themselves out of the 11 point deficit. Donyell Marshall scored 12 in the fourth quarter to keep Cleveland in front as they cruised to the horn for their 50th win of the year.
