Stephen Jackson scored 31 points, Jason Richardson added 25 and 8 rebounds, Al Harrington finished with 24 points and 7 boards and Baron Davis recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists as the Golden State Warriors (42-40) pounded the Portland Trail Blazers (32-50) 120-98 to earn their first trip to the Western Conference playoffs since 1994.
The game against Portland carried little drama as the Warriors led by 15 after the first quarter and went up by as much as 20 in the second quarter before settling for a 64-46 advantage at the break.
Golden State started the third quarter on a 10-2 run to inflate their lead to 26 and Portland looked ready to pack it in. The only excitement brought in the second half was Baron Davis’ chase for a triple-double and when he pulled down a rebound at the six minute mark of the fourth it was the icing on the cake for the Warriors.
The Warriors will enter the playoffs as the eighth seed and will face the Dallas Mavericks in the first round. Golden State just handed the Mavericks a 29 point pasting on Tuesday as Dallas sat Dirk Nowitzki, Jerry Stackhouse and Josh Howard.
