Willis McGahee rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries, Ray Rice collected 70 yards rushing on 16 carries and Joe Flacco was 11/19 passing for 102 yards as the Baltimore Ravens (9-7) edged the Oakland Raiders (5-11) 21-13 on Sunday to earn a spot in the AFC playoffs.
McGahee put the Ravens in front 7-0 in the opening quarter on a 2-yard run but the Raiders managed to put points on the board in the second as Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 37-yard field goal to get Oakland to within 7-3. Baltimore extended their lead to 14-3 when McGahee scored on a 77-yard run but Oakland stayed close and responded just before the end of the half as Zach Miller hauled in a 12-yard TD toss from Charlie Frye to put the score at 14-10.
Janikowski pulled the Raiders to within 14-13 in the third quarter with a 39-yard field goal but McGahee gave the Ravens some breathing room early in the fourth when he scored on a 2-yard TD run. From that point on it was Baltimore’s defense that preserved the win as they forced a JaMarcus Russell fumble and an interception.
