Newark Liberty International Airport Hit with Long Delays after Man Skirts Screening Checkpoint

Air safety officials grounded several flights at the Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday evening, delaying flights for almost six hours after a man walked through a screening point checkpoint exit into the secure area of a terminal and then disappeared.

Passengers who had already been screened were forced to go through the process a second time as officials searched for the man.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and the security checkpoints weren’t reopened until 11:45 p.m., leaving passengers stranded.

Airport security have been examining surveillance tapes in an attempt to identify the man but as of Monday morning they were still no answers.
