Denbury Resources Inc. (NYSE: DNR) said Monday it closed the sale of its 40 percent stake in their Barnett Shale properties in Texas to Talon Oil & Gas LLC for $210 million.

Proceeds from the sale were used to pay off bank debt. Recently, the company took a 95 percent stake in a Texas oil field for about $430 million in cash and stock.
Shares rose 83 cents, or 5.6 percent, to $15.63 at Monday’s close. The stock has traded between $9.61 and $18.84 over the past year.
In addition, France's Total SA (NYSE: TOT) said Monday it will purchase a majority stake in Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) for $2.25 billion with the intent to tap into Chesapeake’s Barnett Shale assets.
