Google Inc. has been gearing up for a dramatic unveiling of its new mobile phone, Nexus One, for some time, but as of yet very little information has been released on the product. That will all change today at their scheduled press conference where the company will reveal a next generation in smart phones. Perhaps this is to presume the product will be breaking ground, but with Google, especially after their 2007 introduction of the mobile Internet platform, the Android, that conclusion comes easily.
Google invited like thoughts of this kind with their invitation, that described their 2007 developedment as only “the beginning of what’s possible.”
The phone was developed by Google’s own engineers and began final trials on the tech savvy members of the empire’s team last month. Today, Google is anticipated to provide the first material details about it, outside of it being sold by Google and their decision to allow consumers to decide which carrying service they would like to operate on. Beyond this, Google is also expected to reveal their vision as to how mobile devices should be made and sold.
Google believes that allowing the carrying service to call the shots is a dated notion and that in the future, phone makers and costumers should control such decisions. Google wants the use of mobile phones to be dictated by the people who own them, not the companies that manipulate the market.
While anyone who had to hold off on getting an i-Phone until their Verizon contract was up, this is great news. The same can't be said for the carriers, many of whom promoted the Android operating system to their customers and who's business is now threatened by the company they supported.
