ESPN to Launch 3-D Channel in 2010

 

ESPN announced Tuesday that the sports network will launch a new 3-D channel in 2010, according to Associated Press.

 

The network, which is owned by the Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS), says it will introduce “ESPN 3D” this year that will broadcast live sports events using 3-D technology. The first event using 3-D will be the FIFA World Cup soccer match on June 11.

The channel will not operate 24 hours a day, but plans to run at least 85 live events in its first year.
