EU Considers Using Airport Body Scanners

World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

As certain European Union countries consider using controversial body scanners to boost airport security, privacy concerns are being raised.

EU experts are scheduled to discuss the issue this Thursday in Brussels.

The British government has called for the use of the scanners in their airports, but one British privacy group has expressed concern for children who pass through the scanners, arguing that images of their bodies would violate child pornography laws.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini voiced support for the scanners, saying they are worth the "sacrifice" of privacy.
