Dr. Paul Kedrosky Joins Weather Trends International’s Advisory Board of Directors

Weather Trends International is honored to announce the addition of a second high-profile advisory board member to their corporate management team effective January 5th, 2010.  Dr. Paul Kedrosky, who may be best known for his popular financial blog (Infectious Greed), has joined the company’s Advisory Board of Directors.   In addition to his writings, Dr. Kedrosky is an equity investor, a frequent speaker at many conferences and events, and an expert commentator on CNBC.

Paul and Weather Trends started working together when he chaired the first O’Reilly Money:Tech conference where Weather Trends was an invited speaker.  A self-admitted ‘weather geek’, Paul frequently looks for ways to use long range weather information to generate alpha in the world of finance.

“As the conversations between Paul and I evolved since the Money:Tech conference a couple of years ago, it became clear that Paul has a deep understanding of how weather can be a significant driver in financial activity, ranging from commodity prices to behavioral responses.  This understanding, coupled with his connections which span the worlds of finance, technology and media, makes Paul an invaluable addition to our team,” said Michael Ferrari, PhD, and director of the commodities division at Weather Trends.

“I'm pleased to assist the smart and creative people at Weather Trends”, said Dr. Kedrosky.  “They are doing important things at the confluence of key trends in big data, real-time analysis and finance.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Paul, a true industry visionary, on the team to help us expand our technology offering into exciting new verticals,” said Bill Kirk, CEO Weather Trends International.

Over the course of his career, Paul has been an entrepreneur, an early stage investor, a technology equity analyst, and he is an active adviser to early-stage companies. His interdisciplinary background includes a PhD in the economics of technology (University of Western Ontario), a master’s degree in finance (Queen's University) and an undergraduate degree in engineering (Carleton).
