Monsanto Loss Due to Drop in Seed Sales, Herbicide Price

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

The world’s largest seed producer, Monsanto Co., reported a loss in the three months ended Nov. 30 of 2 cents a share. The company attributed the loss to falling sales of corn and soybean seeds as well as declining prices of its bestselling herbicide, Roundup.

That trailed the average estimate of break-even results from 14 analysts in a Bloomberg survey. Sales fell 36 percent to $1.7 billion.

Monsanto fell $2, or 2.4 percent, to $83.
