American Woman and Child Killed by Elephant in Kenya

An American woman and her one-year-old daughter have been killed by a stampeding elephant while taking a guided tour in Kenya.

According to reports the elephant attacked from behind, trampling the unsuspecting victims. The husband of the woman was also in the tour group but he was not injured.

Officials said the rest of the group managed to escape harm by running. Guides are not currently allowed to carry guns to protect groups from attacks but that question has been raised and is being discussed.
