Leandro Barbosa, the Phoenix Suns catalyst off the bench, was honored with the NBA’s Sixth Man Award on Monday after averaging 18.1 points per game, 2.7 rebounds and 4 assists in 80 games this season.
Barbosa totaled 578 points, easily outdistancing Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs who finished second with 269 points.
Often called upon to provide a spark to the Suns offense, Barbosa lifted the Suns to a come from behind victory against the Los Angeles Lakers in their playoff opener on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Brazilian helped the Suns to a 61-21 record this season, second best behind the Dallas Mavericks.
