Despite being one of the largest economies in the world, China’s yuan will likely see minimal appreciation—between 3%-4%, say analysts—despite grumbling from its trading partners.
However, last Thursday, China’s central bank unexpectedly raised a key interbank market interest rate for the first time in nearly five months. The move indicates a change in policy focus toward pre-empting inflation risks in the new year.
