A Burmese court has sentenced two officials to death after the pair were found guilty of leaking details about the government’s relationship with North Korea and Russia.
Those details reportedly concerned secret visits made by government officials to the two countries as well as military tunnels built by North Korea inside Burma. According to the court in Rangoon the two men, former army major Win Naing Kyaw and a clerk at the European desk of Burma’s foreign ministry Thura Kyaw, leaked information about visits that were made in 2006 and 2008.
The Burmese government, currently led by military rulers, has not commented on Thursday’s ruling.
