The Indianapolis Colts will go into the postseason with Matt Stover as their kicker, leaving Adam Vinatieri on the sidelines as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
Stover was picked up by the Colts to replace Vinatieri after he underwent knee surgery back in October. The 20-year NFL vet made 9 of 11 field goal attempts as the fill-in and converted all 33 point-after attempts.
Vinatieri actually returned to the team and kicked a field goal in the Colts Dec. 27 loss to the Jets but told coach Jim Caldwell that he was not 100 percent and missed Indy’s final game of the regular season against the Buffalo Bills. Despite the injury Vinatieri will remain on the active roster and could kick if needed in the playoffs.
