Asian Plantations Limited, a growing palm oil production company with operations in Sarawak, Malaysia proves that it’s both environmentally and socially conscious. With the confirmed completion a 5,850 hectare estate acquisition, nearly doubling their plantation land, Asian Plantations Limited has plans to share its good fortune with the community.
Graeme Brown, the Joint Chief Executive of Asian Plantations Limited is excited to announce the company’s newest role in Sarawak. “In tandem with the completion of the acquisition, the company has also conducted a social survey of the adjacent communities to the Incosetia plantation and will initiate, in February, a gravity-fed clean water system for approximately 25 families in two separate longhouses.”
The water system is comparable to the model built by the company for the Apa Gun communities outside their original plantation. The Apa Gun community project supplies cleanwater, via a 2.1 kilometre piping system, to 30 families in one longhouse community positioned roughly 14 kilometres from the originlal estate.
This move is a natural continuation for Asian Plantations Limited. Their socially and eco-friendly company philosophy forwards the notions of community improvement. Another recent example of this is the crushing mill between the two estates currently in production, which will operate to minimize travel waste and increase the production efficiency for the edible oil.
