Market Closing Comments

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

Positive reports on unemployment led to a 33-point rise for the Dow Jones Industrial Average Thursday.

The S&P saw a more minor rise of 4.6 point, or 0.4 percen to close at 1141.7 while the Nasdaq Composite ended mostly flat, down 0.05 percent or one point to hit 2300.1. Flatness has been a trend this week as the market has held largely stable since Monday.

The dollar gained strength today against the Japanese yen and euro, likely contributing to the slow pace of trading.
