Neiman Marcus Sales Comparison Rises 4.5 Percent

Neiman Marcus Inc. reported Thursday that sales at its stores open at least a year rose 4.5 percent in December, according to Associated Press.

 

The company cited customers increasing their acquisitions of luxury items, such as designer handbags, jewelry, shoes and men's and women's clothing.

The privately held company reported that the sales comparison for its specialty retail stores segment, which includes its namesake stores and Bergdorf Goodman, increased to $548 million from $524 million for the period ended Jan. 2.

 

The retailer said its strongest regions were the Southeast and New York City.

 

Total revenue grew 6 percent to $556 million from $525 million.

 

For Neiman Marcus Direct, which includes online and print catalogs for Horchow, Bergdorf Goodman and its namesake brand, comparable sales rose 3.2 percent with strong sales in its women's apparel, shoes, jewelry and handbag categories.
