Anthony Parker scored 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, Chris Bosh added 25 and grabbed 13 boards and T.J. Ford finished with 13 points and 6 assists as the Toronto Raptors beat the New Jersey Nets 89-83 to even their Eastern Conference playoff series at one game apiece.
Toronto entered the fourth quarter trailing 63-58 but opened the period on a 10-0 run to grab a five point advantage against the Nets. New Jersey was able to knot it up after Bostjan Nachbar completed a three-point play and the Nets built a four point lead when Jason Kidd hit a three-pointer with 3:42 left in the game.
Instead of buckling, the Raptors scored six straight to take a two point lead. After the two teams traded buckets Richard Jefferson buried a three-pointer to putt eh Nets up 83-82 with 46 seconds left in the game but T.J. Ford hit four free-throws in a 24 second span to give Toronto the three point lead.
New Jersey had a chance to tie the score with nine seconds left but Nachbar’s three fell short and Anthony Parker sealed the game for Toronto with a pair of free-throws.
The big three for New Jersey struggled from the floor on Tuesday night as Vince Carter finished with 19 points on 8-24 shooting while Kidd had 14 on 5-14 shooting and Jefferson was 4-16 from the field for 13 points.
With the series tied 1-1 the two teams will now travel to New Jersey for Friday night’s game three of their best of seven series.
