Narconon Drug Rehab Teaches Addicts To Be Temperate
James*, a former drug addict, knows exactly what it feels like when your life is spinning out of control. “A year ago I was at my worse. I had no control; every day was spent looking for my next shot of heroin and if I came across another type of drug I would use it immediately.” This type of out of control behavior is what led James to enroll in a drug rehab program called Narconon Louisiana where he was able to complete a course called The Way To Happiness; a common sense guide to moral living.
The Way To Happiness course is designed to show addicts that there is a set of morals that productive, drug-free members of society adhere to and is a very important part of the Narconon program. One very important part of this course is the second precept entitled “Be Temperate,” where it talks about not using harmful drugs or abusing alcohol.
Prior to entering the Narconon Louisiana program, James had been to several rehabilitation facilities trying to handle a heroin addiction that was killing him. Using drugs and abusing harmful substances was a normal part of life for him but he was unsure what to do as the treatment he had gone into didn’t help him to stop using drugs. “None of them [drug rehab centers] worked,” he says. “None of them allowed me to figure out what I was doing that led me down the path of addiction.” After James had detoxified his body in Narconon’s unique sauna detoxification program, and handled his past so that it no longer controlled the way he acted and what kind of decisions he made, he was able to focus forming a new moral code; something that could help him to make good decisions and lead a productive life.
“It was there, during The Way to Happiness Course, that I realized that doing things to excess was what led me down the road of addiction,” explains James, shortly after completing the Narconon program.
This course is designed to re-introduce a person back into society. What often occurs with drug addicts is that they live in their own world and in the case of James; their lives revolve around the drug, and how to obtain it. When a person leads their life that way, they very quickly forget what is expected from them, they forget what is right and wrong and they forget that they were not always an addict.
The Way To Happiness has been used in the Narconon program for decades and is used in the organization’s 100 centers in 50 countries including one of their newer centers; Narconon Louisiana. Narconon Louisiana has been open for 3 years and is a long-term, inpatient facility that maintains a 75% success rate for permanent recovery.
In a society where morals seems to be getting less and less important, it is vital that we take a moment and teach individuals what is expected of them, and how sober, productive members of society lead their lives. The Way To Happiness provides this lesson and is the final step to rehabilitation.
Being temperate is a moral that can very quickly be forgotten but through treatment at Narconon Louisiana addicts can get reeducated and helped so that they can change their lives. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for drug or alcohol abuse please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.
