ZAP (OTC Bulletin Board: ZAAP) will be unveiling its Alias 00% electric sports car at the North American International Auto Show. The event will be taking place in Detroit, Michigan, from January 11-24, 2010. The display is part of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, a competition for production capable vehicles which exceed 100 miles per gallon or energy equivalent with a $10 million prize.

The ZAP Alias is going to be located in the auto show debut of "Electric Avenue." This section will be located on the main floor and will showcase electric vehicles and technology. The exhibit will feature around 20 vehicles along with symposiums and special events.
European engineers and ZAP are the designers of the Alias. The Alias is powered by an collection of large-format lithium batteries. The base model of the Alias is able to travel over 100 miles on a charge and can hit 85 mph. A compact, high efficiency, air cooled, AC induction motor is used in the drive system. The expected price tag on this car will be around $35,000.
