The NFL playoffs get underway on Saturday with a pair of rematches from the Week 17 regular season finale. The Cincinnati Bengals, winners of the AFC North, will be hosting the New York Jets at 4:30 p.m. while the Dallas Cowboys, winners of the NFC East, will welcome the Philadelphia Eagles back to Texas at 8:00 p.m.
Cincinnati will be looking to bounce back from an ugly 37-0 loss to the Jets last week in New York. The win locked up a wildcard berth for New York and gave them momentum heading into the playoffs. New York earned their spot with the NFL’s top overall defense and it will be that defense that determines how deep the Jets will go. Offensively NY will turn to their running game, a feature that produced 267 yards last week. The Bengals managed just five first downs last week and totaled just 72 yards in the game. Fortunately for the Bengals they’ll be at home where they went 6-2 but the Jets proved to be capable of winning on the road, posting a 5-3 mark during the regular season. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
In the second game of the day the Dallas Cowboys will look to repeat last week’s 24-0 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas beat Philly twice in the regular season but will need a win on Saturday for that to mean anything. Like the Jets the Cowboys have done it defensively, posting back-to-back shutouts and are the NFC’s fourth rated defense. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Cowboys offense is clicking as well as Tony Romo threw for 311 yards last week while the running game picked up 179 yards. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
