Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning has won a record fourth NFL MVP, easily outdistancing himself from runner-up Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.
Manning had been tied with Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre for most MVP awards but sports writers and broadcasters covering the NFL gave the nod to the Indy QB to snap the tie. Favre would finish fourth in the balloting, one spot below San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers.
Manning picked up his 2009 NFL MVP after guiding the Colts to an NFL best 14-2 record while throwing for 4,500 yards and 33 TDs. The award will now sit next to the MVP trophies he earned in 2003, 2004 and 2008.
