CIA Bomber Had Vowed Revenge for Death of Pakistani Taliban Chief

The Jordanian man believed responsible for the suicide attack that killed seven CIA agents in Afghanistan had previously vowed revenge for the murder of Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud.

A video showing the suspected attacker, Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, was broadcast on al-Jazeera TV. In the footage the attacker pledged revenge for the death of Mehsud and saying the response should be felt “inside and outside America.”

Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, said to be a double-agent, entered the Forward Operating Base Chapman in Afghanistan’s Kohost province and detonated an explosive that killed eight people, the seven CIA agents and a Jordanian official.

Mehsud was killed in a U.S. missile strike in South Waziristan last year.
