The death toll from an attack on a bus carrying Togo’s football team has reached three and will likely cause the country to pull out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
On Friday the team was traveling from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Angola when it came under fire from gunmen. The driver of the bus as well as the assistant coach and press officer were killed in the attack.
While officials from the Africa Cup of Nations want Togo to remain in the tournament the team has said it would pull out of the competition and some players have called for other countries to do the same. Togo is scheduled to play Ghana on Monday in Cabinda, the Angolan province where the attack occurred.
