Detroit Auto Show Exudes Optimism of Auto Industry Recovery

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

As the Detroit auto show opened today, a new sense of optimism filled the air as the auto industry moved forward from one of its worst years on record.

The mood is significantly more upbeat than a year earlier, when it seemed doubtful that General Motors and Chrysler would even survive the fallout.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told reporters, “Today is a new beginning for the automotive industry. When people have an opportunity to see the kind of products that are now being manufactured and will be on display, they will realize the auto industry is manufacturing products people want to drive.”

So far, Ford has won the best car and truck of the year for the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan and Ford Transit Connect truck respectively.

GM Vice chairman Bob Lutz said, “I’m genuinely optimistic about the future.”
