(NASDAQ:SCHN) declines 1.68% to $55.01 after the company posted a better-than-expected first-quarter profit from continuing operations, helped by improved margins in its key metals recycling business. For the first quarter ended Nov. 30, Schnitzer posted a net loss of $9 million, or 30 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $34 million, or $1.21 a share, a year ago. Analysts on average expected the company to earn 14 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $402.5 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

China Automotive Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CAAS) soars 6.45% to $26.06. The stock hit an intraday high and an intraday low of $26.49 and $25.01 respectively. In the last six months the stock went up over 393%. China Automotive Systems, Inc. is a holding company and has no significant business operations or assets other than its interest in Great Genesis Holdings Limited (Genesis).
