Jason Terry scored 28 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 23 and 7 rebounds and Josh Howard finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks evened their Western Conference playoff series with the Golden State Warriors with a 112-99 victory.
The Warriors hung with the Mavericks through the first half and remained close through the first few minutes of the third quarter but the Mavericks used a 15-2 run to grab a nine point lead and went on to extend their lead to 87-74 by the end of the period.
Dallas then put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run that gave them a 20 point cushion with four minutes remaining in the game.
Golden State didn’t help themselves any as both Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson were forced to the locker room early for picking up two technical fouls. Davis, who led the Warriors with 33 points and 14 rebounds in the game one upset, was dismissed at the end of the third quarter for arguing a foul. Jackson picked up his second technical with 4:34 left in the game.
The Warriors also had a hard time holding on to the ball as they committed 24 turnovers in the contest.
Dallas continued to struggle from beyond the three-point line. In game one they hit just 6-19 and in Wednesday night’s game they shot a dreadful 1-16 from the same distance.
Both teams will meet again in Oakland on Friday for game three of their best of seven series.
